Understanding patterns of consumption-based greenhouse gas emissions in Bristol
Cities play a key role in meeting the UK’s climate mitigation targets. Yet, despite UK cities having higher consumption- than production-based GHG emissions, production-based emissions continue to be better understood. This research will investigate Bristol’s household carbon footprints at neighbourhood level to provide insight into inner-city household differences in carbon emissions. Links between household carbon emissions and socio-demographic variables will be analysed for total household carbon footprints, as well as for emissions from one specific sector. Moreover, spatial patterns of emissions will be assessed. This will help understand current footprints and may help predict how emissions will change in future.
